He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Heilman and Bertha Heilman (Peck); and his siblings, Ruth Dye (Jim), Charles Heilman (Sally), Martha Scheiwe (Bob), Lola Kozuch (Johnny) and Rosalie Heilman.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Lee Mumaw of South Bend; his children, Scott Heilman, Gregory Heilman (Mary Vallely), Kimberly Jones (Van) and Jacqueline Schafer; his grandchildren, Nathan Fovary, Kyle Jones (Kanaisha), Tiffany Heilman, Jessika Jones (Nash Bennett), Tori Jones (Aaron Gettys) and Jaden Heilman; his great grandchildren, Lindsay, Khloe, Jaxon, Harley and Demarius; and his nieces and nephews, Chuck, David, Allen, Judy, Debbie, Mary Carol, Keith, Kathy, Joey, Mark and Timothy.
