He is survived by: his wife Billie Lynne Makin (Baer); his sons, Robert Makin Jr. and Michael Makin; his siblings, Eric Makin (Mary), Joanne McCleestor (Mark), Nellie Updegraff, Judy Shrader and Nancy Gilchrist; his sister-in-law Kathy Guthrie; his parents-in-law, Roselma and Glenn Cramer; his grandchildren, Charity, Melody, Robert III, Ben and Remi; and his great grandchild Mariah.
