He was predeceased by : his parents, Peter Edward McFarlane and Frances Hester; and his siblings, Barbara Madison, Frances McFarlane, Ronald and Robert McFarlane.

He is survived by : his wife Carol; his brother Jim McFarlane (Bev) of Oregon; his children, Marlo Hofmann (Matt) of Indianapolis and Edward McFarlane of South Bend; his stepchildren, Megan Sheraton (Austin) of South Bend, Heather Frye (David) of Florida, Joseph Blank (Kathy) of North Carolina and Matthew Blank (Heather) of Florida; and his grandchildren, Justin, Ethan Hofmann, Jordon, Jeremy, Tiffany Landry, Kaitlyn, David (Suzie), Cameron (Kacey), Alyssa, Dillon, Dalton Blank, Sam, Max (Katie), Anna, Ben Ujdak, Leo, Chase Sheraton, Tim, Ellie and Natalie Frye.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to Heart to Heart Hospice.
