He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellsworth Lewis and Emma Lewis (Crane); his wife Mary; and his son Jerry E. Lewis. He is survived by: his daughters, Nancy Thacker of Mooresville and Sue Lewis of Spencer; his daughter-in-law Elena Lewis of Spencer; his sister LaVerne Brown of Gosport; and his grandchildren, Cassie Babbs (Rob), Randy Lewis, Ricky Lewis, Rusty Lewis, Allan Lewis (Angel), Todd Lewis (Angie), Vanessa Strawder (Jerry), Anjie Romer (Jim), Jill Clearwaters (Kurt) and Daniel Thacker. He is also survived by 27 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Macular Degeneration Association, National Osteoporosis Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
