He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Harper and Leona Harper (Gritton); and his son Jim. He is survived by: his wife Loretta Taylor; his brothers, Bill and Don Harper; his children, Daniel (Keri-Ann Harper) and Erin Harper-Vignola; and his grandchildren, James (Amber Rademacher), Krystal Rademacher and Daphne Chase (Rademacher).
