He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Arthur Holmes and Tressie Holmes (Mason). He is survived by: his wife Nancy Robinson Holmes; and his children, David Arthur Holmes Jr. (Missy) of Shelburn, Tammy Ann Holmes of Sullivan and Tressie Glenn Holmes of Sullivan. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the LaMision in care of First Christian Church.
