He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Earl Gunkel and Isabelle Gunkel (Redmon); his wife Jenny Timmons; his daughters, Susan Schonegg (Stephen) and Julie Akard (James); his grandchildren, Michelle Rector, Matthew Rector (Carrie) and Brenda Akard; his great grandchild Gavin Rector; and his sisters, Virginia Horton and Margaret Henderson. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
