He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Manago and Rose Manago (Napoli). He is survived by: his spouse Margaret "Peggie" Phares; and his children, Antoinette "Toni" Leek (Dennis) of Wanatah, Teresa Wittenstrom of Valparaiso, Herbert M. Manago of Valparaiso and Michael Witkowski (Jane) of Kouts.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Leukemia Foundation.
