He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Bessie Messer (Hall); and his siblings, Lanora Murphy, Gertrude Wilson, Laverne, Wayne, Shirley, Gene, Phirl and Jay Messer.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Sue Oney; his children, Gretchen Mitchell (Jon) of Greensburg, Keith Messer (Natalie) of North Vernon, Nicholas Messer of Westport and Derek Messer (Chelsea) of Columbus; his siblings, Evelyn Kinzer of Norfolk, Virginia, Clarise Conn of Mobile, Alabama and Curt Messer (Jean) of Georgia; and his grandchildren, Kyler Mitchell, Corbin Mitchell, Wyatt Messer, Saban Messer, Kendall Messer, Kendra Messer, Collin Messer, Kylynn Messer and McKenna Messer.
