He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Barten and Julia Barten (Lauer); and his siblings, Alfred, Herbert, Alden Barten, Alberta Snitker and Dorothy Barten.
He is survived by: his sister Velma Becker of Abilene; and his sister-in-law Pauline Barten of Wichita. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
