He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar and Elizabeth (Bette); and his wife Paula Rodgers. He is survived by: his former wife Linda Lampe; his siblings, Glenda Patterson (Wade) of Copeland and Tom Zachman of Dodge City; his stepsiblings, Sherry Casey (Lawrence) of Hutchinson, Terry Knowles of Colby and Doug Wilson of Menlo; his children, Serena Shields (Larry) of McCook, Arron Zachman (Pamela) of Cody and Nathan Zachman (Jana) of Bucklin; his stepdaughter Kathy Starks (Randy) of Haysville; his grandchildren, Amanda Hilker (Lance), Melinda Ely (Chet) and Kenneth Stark (Elizabeth); his great grandchildren, Amaya, Bella and Huxley; his siblings' children, Jeremy Patterson and Brooke Patterson; his great-nieces, Kaitlyn Patterson and Ellie Bultena; and his great-nephew Max Patterson II.
