He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore Housel of Cherryvale Ks and Pauline Housel (Morris); his wives, Carol and Twila; his children, Mark "Chopper" Housel of Cherryvale Ks and Shannon Gragg Cherryvale Ks; his granddaughter Johna Housel Cherryvale Ks; and his siblings, Evelyn Fink of Grove Okla, Charles Housel of Independence Ks and Mike Housel of Cherryvale Ks.

He is survived by : his siblings, Molly Parker of Cherryvale Ks, Bob Housel (Rose) of Cherryvale Ks and Ted Housel (Sonja) of Cherryvale Ks; and his children, Tim Housel (Shana) of Coffeyville Ks, Jeff Housel (Kathy) of Edna, John "Johnny" Housel, Jr. (Janie), Vicki Housel of Las Vegas, NV, Kimberly Harris of Independence Ks and Melissa Gragg of Lenexa Ks. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M., Thursday May 21, 2020 at First Southern Baptist Church, 717 East 6th, Cherryvale, Kansas with social distancing observed due to current Covid 19 situation.
