He was predeceased by: his parents, William Grothusen and Christine Grothusen (Strella); and his siblings, Ralph, Lloyd, Jack and Dorothy Remley.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; and his children, Marsha Drebelbis (James), Ruth Obadal (Charles Hammonds) and William H. G. Brooks (Richard Black). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
