He is survived by: his wife Young Blackburn of Ellsworth; his sons, Robert Blackburn, Jr. of Ellsworth and Ronald Blackburn of Hays; his stepdaughter Michele Sullivan of Gossel; and his brother Richard Blackburn of Abilene.
