He was predeceased by: his parents, Felipe Delgado Varela and Rosa Aguilar Varela. He is survived by: his former wife Paula Guerra; his wife Edelmira Varela; his children, Susan Varela (Kerry Messenger), Clemente Varela (Mary), Joe Varela (Veronica), Oscar Varela (Brittani), Alfonso Deosis (Marychelo) and Liliana Deosis (Eliseo); and his siblings, Beatriz Olguin, Socorro Varela, Irma Gutierrez, Felipe Varela and Abel Varela. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren.
