He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Leyva Chavez and Virginia Ortiz Aguilar; and his close friend Vicente Leyva. He is survived by: his wife Celia Godinez; his niece Lupita Leyva (Julio); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Idaly, Dayami, Mariano and Adamariz; his sibling's children, Cristina Leyva, Cristal Leyva, Ignacio Leyva (Karina), Rene Leyva, Jr. (Cecy), Omar Leyva, Dolores Leyva, Cristobal Leyva and Maria Elena Gomez; Pedro Leyva, Dora Leyva, Vicki Leyva and Martha Ramos.
