He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Dechant and Elizabeth "Betty" Dechant (Pfeiffer); and his siblings, Alex Dechant, Ken Dechant, Linda Sinclair and Evelyn Berning.
He is survived by: his siblings, Betty Heath of Leoti, Rosemary Wasinger of Scott City, Joyce York of Ft. Worth, Debra Robinson of Holcomb, Kansas, Ronald Dechant of Garden City and James "Jake" Dechant of Garden City, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
