It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Athena Whorton (Garden Plain, Kansas), born in Goodland, Kansas, who passed away on February 18, 2019, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Kiner and Ruby Kiner; her husband Frank; her daughter Ruby Sowersby; her grandsons, Jerry Lynn and Todd Whorton; and her siblings, Larry, Richard, Judy and Alice.

She is survived by: her children, Jerry Whorton (Marilyn), Lynn Whorton, Marcella Heitman, Linda Oliver (Randy), Roger Whorton (Teresa) and James Whorton. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
