He was predeceased by: his parents, Celestine "Celly" and Barbara M. Zimmerman (Werth); his brother Joel Zimmerman; and his siblings-in-law, Leroy Braun, Warren Bennett, Judy Bennett and Thelma Braun.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Braun; his children, Scott Zimmerman (Corrie) of Hays and Kathy Cossaart (Tim) of Hays; his siblings, Cary Zimmerman (Theresa) of Salina, Jude Zimmerman (Jackie) of Lake Charles, LA, Faye Geschwenter (Rich) of Ellis, Jeanette Kraft (Marvin) of Emporia and Helen Godfrey (Dick) of Salina; his sister-in-law Rose Ann Zimmerman of Hays; his grandchildren, Brianna Pfannenstiel, Kenna Pfannenstiel, Ashley Cossaart, Alyssa Balandran (Juan), Gabriella, Isaac, Jordon, Sarah and Israel Zimmerman; and his great grandchildren, Lily, Faith, Emma Balandran and Alex Zimmerman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
