She was predeceased by: her parents, Phil Mongeau and Nelda Mongeau (Thyfault); her husband Jasper Joseph "Jack" Hamel; and her siblings, Levi Mongeau, Robert Mongeau, Alma Mongeau and Lorene Mongeau.
She is survived by: her children, Dan Hamel (Lori) of Wichita, David Hamel (Anjanette) of Hays, Sheryl Rempe (Francis) of Wichita, Mary Rempe (Walter) of Wichita, Carol Mendoza (Robert) of Wichita and Pam Mayers (Stan) of Hays; her sister Delores Meyers of Plainville; her sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Lesage of Hays and Antoinette Hamel of Hill City; her grandchildren, Stacey Heiman, Kevin Rempe, Craig Rempe, Kerrie Parker, Tim Rempe, Chris Rempe, Darcy Lescher, Jeff Maddox, Alex Hamel, Andrew Hamel, Jenna Meyer, Jason Mayers, Jared Mayers, Racheal Hamel and Megan Hamel; and her stepgrandchildren, Amy Welch, Racheal Banning and Marcy Garcia. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
