She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis Macharia (Gatonga) and Grace Wanjiru Macharia (Mama Sarah); and her siblings, Sarah Macharia and John Waweru. She is survived by: her siblings, Peter Kariuki, Noah Mugwe and Eddah Gitau; her significant other John Mucene Kigera; and her sons, Alec "Chuma" Kigera, Steven Macharia and Daniel Kariuki.
