She was predeceased by: her parents, Izidor Plese and Zora Plese; her husband Eugene Collins; her daughters, Mary Catherine Collins and Elaine Ann Collins; and her siblings, Theodore Plese, Mary Relic, Katherine Podrebarac, Helen Plese and Stanley Plese.
She is survived by: her children, Kathleen VandenBoom (Eugene H.) of Kansas City, MO and Fredrick (Elizabeth) of Olathe, KS; and her grandchildren, Patrick Collins, Maureen Seufert (Matt), Bridget Collins, Theresa Helms (Jesse) and Joseph VandenBoom. She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Bernice can be made to St. Mary's-St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas or Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home in Belton, Missouri.
