He was predeceased by: his parents, Ora Tucker and Ruth Tucker; his half-brother Jack Tucker; his in-laws, Herbert and Loretta Bergman; and his grandson Colin.

He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his children, Jody (Cindy), Julie (late Dave), Tony (Nettie), Jason (Natalie) and Jerome (Cassie); his sister Martha (Butch); his grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan), Brittany (Beau), Austin (Kelsey), Tyler, McKenzie, Alyssa, Tony Jr., Courtney, Jack and Leah; and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Sophie, Ella, Beau Jr., Leighton and Knox.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the University of Kansas Health System in Joe's memory.
