He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Welch (Warren) and Tolbert Welch; and his brother Cleveland. He is survived by: his wife Vicki Welch (Waugh); his daughters, Erika Welch and Megan Berry (Welch); his grandsons, Maxwell and Elliott Berry; and his siblings, Warren, Alford, Paul and Annie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Kidney Fund.
