He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Slater and Margaret Slater; his wife Nancy; his children, Jane and David; and his granddaughter Madison.
He is survived by: his children, Linn, Michael, Susan, Mary, John and Carol. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the National Parkinson's Foundation and the Wounded Warriors Project.
