He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. Mapes and Bessie Mapes (Martin); his son Dan; his grandchildren, Kevin Mapes and Amy Mapes; and his sister Leone Purton.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Mapes; his children, John Mapes (Lee) of Norton, Rocky Mapes (Rona) of Thornton, Colorado and Susan Perkins (Allen) of Omaha, Nebraska; and his sister Mary Lee Aguilar of Ostega, Minnesota. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
