He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Freed and Myrtle Freed (Moyers); his wife Kathryn G Kendall; and his brothers, Jim Freed and Bob Freed.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheryl Hammarlund (Ted) of McPherson, KS; his grandsons, Daniel Hammarlund of Derby, KS and Scott Hammarlund of Berthoud, CO; his brother Merlin Freed (Nancy) of Vici, OK; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Freed of Okeene, OK, Judy Freed of Delaware, OH and Lucy Cary of Austin, TX; his niece Beth Ann Kendall Hanning; and his close friend Illa Flax. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Brethren (200 N Carrie St, McPherson, KS 67460).
