He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Harms and Lorena Harms (Klaassen); his siblings, Jean Schroeder, Menno Schroeder, Robert Schroeder, Henry Gronau Jr. and Olin (Alma Schmidt); his son-in-law Gary Eichelberger; and his grandson Graham Martens.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Schmidt; his daughters, Marianne Eichelberger and Jenny (Weldon Martens); his granddaughters, Laurel Martens, Boston and Michaela Martens; and his sisters, Glendeen Schroeder of Mountain Lake, MN, Loraine (Gronau), Vern Giebler and Hays.
A memorial service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Grace Hill Mennonite Church (10218 SE 12th St, Whitewater, KS 67154). A burial was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at the Grace Hill Mennonite Cemetery (10218 SE 12th St, Whitewater, KS 67154).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Hill Mennonite Church and Camp Mennoscah.
