As Shirley Mae departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Shirley Mae may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Shirley Mae leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Anderson and Edith Cinita Humphrey Anderson; her husband Wilber Bryon Smulling (Bud); her sons, Stewart and Stephen Smulling; her granddaughter Melissa Sue Smulling; and her son-in-law Todd Brett Nettleton.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Nettleton of Miller, Kansas and Timothy Smulling (Sharon) of Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Miller United Methodist Church (3284 Main St, Reading, KS 66868). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Osage City Library and may be sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th Street, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
