He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Welch Fulk (Welch) and Luther R. Johnston; and his brother David L Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Betty Garcia; his daughter Lucy Ann Greenley; and his siblings, Theodore Fulk, Cheryl Carney and Kendra Butner. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
