He was predeceased by : his former life partner Marilyn Wilcox; his parents, Aaron Johnson and Carolyn Johnson (Nystrom); his stepchildren, Harold Hughes and Donita Roche; and his grandson Brian Johnson.

He is survived by : his wife Iona "Tootie" of Beatrice; his children, Dave Johnson (Patti) of Garden City, KS, Nancy Zobel (Terry) of Omaha, NE, Judy Walz (Dave) of Covington, LA, Jeff Johnson (Melanie) of Kearney, NE and Jerry Johnson (Amber) of Puyallup, WA; his stepchildren, Jeanie Emerson of Wichita, KS and Billie Hughes (Jolene) of Moline, IL; his stepdaughter-in-law Virginia Hughes of Cheney, KS; and his brother Harold Johnson of Belleville, KS. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
