He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Arthur Hancock and Harriett Hancock (Johnson); his former life partner Linda Schilling; his wife Karen Hancock (Lowe); his children, Sean Hancock (Amy), Lynley Cordell (David), Lori Vicory (Matt) and Stephanie White of Shawnee, KS; his stepdaughters, Lori Rains (Les) of Kansas City, KS, Leann Kuebelbeck of Lithia, FL and Heidi Tomlins (Tammy); his siblings, Quentin Hancock (Jan) and Phyllis Jansen (Dick) of Austin, TX; and his cousin Charlie Mitts (Diane) of Olathe, KS. He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in his name are suggested to the Tonganoxie USD #464 Education Foundation, or the THS Alumni Association.

“Art was a stoic, but loving man. Growing up he always made me feel welcome and safe, as if I was his child. He loved God, his family and his community. Some of my favorite times as a kid, was going to the Tonganoxie pool, and he would let us in for free. He is greatly missed. Leslie Folsom (Aunt Lucy's daughter)”
