He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Wayne E. Story and Jean A. Story (Detra); and his siblings, Edris Welsh, Neal Story of Blue Springs, MO and Judy Rynearson of Liberty, MO. He was also cherished by nine nieces and nephews who along with their children and grandchildren.

The family suggests donations in Gary's name to the Grace Baptist Church, Tonganoxie.
