He was predeceased by : his parents, Leland McPherson and Mildred McPherson (Osborn); and his former life partner Ila McPherson (Gauby). He is survived by : his wife Esther McPherson (Hernandez); his children, Rick Tonganoxie (Michele) and Krista Robertson (Glenn); and his brother Larry Eudora (Frances). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
