He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Zelmith Cox and Myrtle Elizabeth Jones; his son Robert; his siblings, Carl and Mary Lee Maxfield; and his son Jason Cox.

He is survived by: his son Tony Cox; and his brother Leroy Ross Cox. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was a very generous giver to numerous charity organizations.
