He was predeceased by : his parents, Martin C. Herrera and Lidia Herrera (Guerra). He is survived by : his children, Martin H. Herrera (Nancy), Bryan Herrera (Liz), Robin Herrera of Ulysses, Kansas and Lydia Herrera of Ulysses, Kansas; and his siblings, Paul Herrera (Linda), Israel Herrera (Irene), Edward Herrera (Becky), Angie Herrera, Irma O'Bryan (Stacy), Laura Herrera and Liz Gardea. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial was established for Martin Herrera III Education Fund for his grandchildren.
