He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer W. Smokewood and Georgia E. Murphy Smokewood; his wife Margaret M. Simpson; his daughter Dr. Elaine Smokewood; his stepmother Lavaun Smith Smokewood; and his sisters, Alpha Waddell, Ann Smokewood and Dorothy Morris.
He is survived by: his daughter Cathleen Stahmer (Ken) of Augusta, KS; and his granddaughter Sara Swift (Tyler) of Augusta, KS. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
