He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Shakery and Ellen Shakery. He is survived by: his wife Marsha; his grandfather Robert; his children, Kester Escandon (Lynsey), Miriam Dann (Nick), Helen Murray (Anthony) and Greg Escandon (Lisa); his stepchildren, Adam Hatfield (Carmen), Michael Hatfield (Kristen) and Joseph (Melissa); his close friends, David Meakin, Susan Meakin, Jessica Edwards and Jason Funderburk; and also England.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church of Wellington and Good Shepherd Hospice.
