He was predeceased by: his mother Edith Nighswonger; his wife Sherry Nighswonger (Guthridge); and his sisters, Judy Simmons and Karen Smith. He is survived by: his father Lawrence Nighswonger; his grandchildren, Ashley Baumchen (Darrin) of Silver Lake, Kansas, Courtney Hamilton (Brenon) of Silver Lake, Kansas, Michael Hamilton of Silver Lake, Kansas, Richard Nighswonger (Hannah) and Shannon Padzensky (Doug) of Wichita; his children, Lori Hamilton (Kent) of Silver Lake and Rich Nighswonger (Susie) of Wichita, Kansas.; his close friend Shirley Pennypacker; and his brothers-in-law, Gene Simmons, Bud Smith and Dick Guthridge (Rita). He is also survived by numerous extended family; and the many "surrogate" children, family, and friends.
