He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Lewis and Ruby Florence Pickens (Weaver); his wife Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Snell; his daughter Michelle "Shelley" Mendoza; his granddaughter Jocelyn Mendoza; and his siblings, Samuel Lewis "Louie" Pickens, Lois Mead and Phyllis Hudson.
He is survived by: his children, Bernita Issinghoff of Wichita and Barry Pickens of Overland Park; his grandchildren, Jaci Caceres, Jessica Mendoza, Kristal Issinghoff and Jaclynn Pickens; his great grandchildren, Diego, Santi Caceres, Tyler, Malaki Bryan, Desi Mendoza and Blake Issinghoff; and his close friend Jenny Powell.
A memorial has been established in Bennie's name for the Special Olympics of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
