He was predeceased by: his parents, James David and Rosa Wilburn Harte; his wife Martha Frances Copley Harte; and his brother Harold Harte. He is survived by: his children, Robert Harte (Carol) of Ashland, KY, James David Harte (Lianne) of Miami, FL and Patricia Vallance (J. C.) of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Christin, Hannah, Kelly and Shauna; and his close friend Bobbie Moore. He is also survived by extended family and good friends.
