He is survived by: his wife Karen Sue Hampton Smallwood of Catlettsburg, KY; his children, James R. Smallwood (Kelly) of Catlettsburg, KY, Kelly Smallwood Starling (Brandon) of Folsom, CA and Annie Smallwood of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Haleigh Smallwood, Hannah Adams (J. D.), Hope Smallwood and Ryan Starling; and his siblings, Leonard Smallwood (Bonnie) of Ashland, KY, Linda Hardeman (Earl) of Ashland, KY, Stella Bradshaw (Lester) of Johnstown, CO and Angie Barker (Scott) of Ashland, KY. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James' honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
