With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Vanessa Darlene Short Anderson Coleman of Ashland, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 27, 2025 at the age of 70. She was predeceased by: her parents, William "Bill" Proctor Short and Reba Darlene Rice Short; her former husband Billy Joe "Whitey" Anderson; and her siblings, William Perry Short and Melessa Short.
She is survived by: her husband Gilbert Coleman of Ashland, KY; her children, James Anderson (Kelli) of Greenup, KY, Stephanie Hicks (Seth) of Catlettsburg, KY, Amanda Hughes (Paul) of Raceland, KY, Tammy Whitt (Chris) of Dayton, OH, Kimberly Caines of Ashland, KY and Valarie Coleman of Ashland, KY; her sisters, Martha Barker (Dudley) of Raceland, KY and Reba Kay Nolan of Ashland, KY; and her sister-in-law Arlene Short of Raceland, KY. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Bailey Family Funeral Home (2110 Argillite Rd, Flatwoods, KY 41139). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens (700 Red Devil Ln, Russell, KY 41169).
