He is survived by : his wife Janice Pounders Austin of Beattyville, Kentucky; his children, Justin Clay Austin of Washington, D. C., Stephen Austin (Lucia) of Holiday, Jason Austin (Angie) of Port Richey, William Austin of Lexington, Kentucky, Valerie Preston of Lexington, Mia Austin of Rockhill and Gina Trieste (Jonathan) of Clearwater, Florida; his sister Kathy Austin of Chattanooga; and his pet Clover. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
