He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Temple and Sarah Francis Carson Temple; his son James R. Temple; and his siblings, Curren, Darrell, Paul, Vernon Temple, Eunice Breeden and Clara Chipman.

He is survived by : his children, Bobby G. Temple (Kimberly) of Bedford, KY, Patricia "Trish" Jones (Mark) of Milton, KY, William "Bill" C. Temple (Tammy) of Milton, KY, Michael E. Temple of Milton, KY and Alvin D. Temple of Bedford, KY; and his sister Nancy Temple of Milton, KY. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
