He is survived by: his wife Lois Hilbert Thompson; his children, Jackie Bishop (Paul), Lana Thompson, Rhonda Thompson, Jimmy Beach (Cordelia), Greg Thompson (Sheila) and Michelle Logston (Ron); and his sisters, Reba Yates and Mildred Abney. He is also survived by grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren.
