He was predeceased by: his siblings, Charlotte Cardwell Hunt, Beverly Nykwest, Glendon Cardwell and Lincoln; his uncle Omer; his aunts, Ruth Cardwell and Rhuie Flener; and his nephew Michael Hunt.
He is survived by: his wife Kaye Bartley Cardwell; his son Matthew Len Cardwell; his brothers, Ronnie (Norma), Allen (Joy Wyatt) and Dwight; his nieces and nephews, Lisa Nicewinter, Laura Oliver, Jami Crivits Cardwell, Terry Cardwell, Tracy Casaceli, Becky Nykwest, Katie Nykwest, Kim Houser, Lindsey Davis, Dr. Jeff Cardwell, Timmy Hunt, Ron Cardwell, Ryan Cardwell, Andrew Cardwell and Chris Cardwell; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Cardwell.
