He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Proffitt and Lena "Jack" Oliver Proffitt; his siblings, Darrell Proffitt, Jerry Proffitt, Terry Proffitt, Paul Leroy Proffitt and Rose Mary Lampkin; his granddaughter Sarah Lynne Kennedy; and his great grandchild Sarah Elizabeth Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Oliver Proffitt of Cadiz; his children, Robert Proffitt (Kelli) of Cadiz, Lisa Proffitt of Cadiz and Sherri Kennedy (Dwight) of Cadiz; his grandchildren, Andrea Allen (James), Matt Kennedy (Haley), Pete Elliott (Alyssa) and Ashley Garcia (Nick); his great grandchildren, Gracelynne, Alivea, Alissa, James Michael, James, Jr., Gage, Ansley, Hensley, Daylyn, Nicholas and Bailey; and his siblings, Harry Proffitt (Hazel) of Affton, Missouri and Lois Ann Hargrove of Cadiz.
