He was predeceased by : his siblings, Tracy Shumway, Mildred Rogers and Goldie Ginn. He is survived by : his child Mertie Brown Shumway; his wife Janet Dalton Shumway; his daughter Karen Shumway Davis; his grandchildren, Karen Leslie Davis and Mark Shumway II; his sons, Calvin "Casey" Shumway (Dee) and Mark Shumway (Cheri); his son-in-law Paul Davis; his grandchildren, Teresa Skaggs, William, Alison Spillman, Jim, Jodi Shumway, Sara Tussey, Jenny Kazee, JP, Josh Shumway and Erica; his great grandchildren, Devin Shumway, Nate Shumway, Katlynn Shumway and Anthony Blasko; and his great great grandchild Charlee Blasko.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Neal Funeral Home (2409 Center St, Catlettsburg, KY 41129). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
