He is survived by: his son James Taylor "J. T."; his wife Jan Perkins Gwin of Hazard, KY; his close friend Connie Turner of Hazard, KY; his sister Juanita Salyers of Hazard, KY; his nieces, Angela Cornett and Jessica Barker; his nephew Jonathan Salyers; and his grandchildren, Brennan Barker, Brayden Cornett, Lillian Cornett and Brantley Barker.
